Sūrah Al-Fātiḥah · 1:5
Something hit me about this ayah. This whole life is a test, and worship is the point of it. We're going to end up worshipping something anyway. Money, people's approval, ourselves. And Allah says: no, worship Me. Not as a demand, honestly, but as a kind of honor. Out of everything a human being could bow to, we get pointed to the only One actually worthy of it.
Think about it. He's the Rabb. He will never look down on us. Anyone else we raise up, at some point they get arrogant. It goes to their head. He's the one Being who is actually perfect to worship.
Then look at the words: "You alone." Straight to Him, no middleman. And right after, "and You alone we ask for help."
The One we serve is the One who helps us. SubhanAllah!
