About this course
Not another grammar book.
Most people who set out to learn Qur'anic Arabic start the same way: a grammar textbook first, then months of gardaans, before a single verse enters the room. Vocabulary is treated as a separate task again afterward — a list of frequent words, memorised apart from the grammar that would explain what they're doing in a sentence. Both halves are real and necessary. Taught apart, and taught before the text, they're also why most people who start this path don't finish it.
This course begins somewhere else: inside the verse itself. Over years of teaching, Yasin Asad mapped how the Qur'an's own rules and roots repeat and interlock — a preposition that signals the same shift in meaning wherever it appears, a verb pattern that resurfaces across sūrahs. Taught as one connected pattern rather than a pile of separate facts, one lesson tends to open several verses at once, not only the one in front of you.
How you'll learn
Arabic through the Qur'an is a live, eight-week course that teaches Qur'anic grammar and vocabulary together, inside real verses, instead of apart and in advance. Each class shows a rule or a root as part of a larger pattern that repeats throughout the Qur'an — so a handful of connected patterns unlock far more of the text than isolated facts ever could. By the end of Level 1, most of what you've learned is still working for you, on pages you've never opened before.
